The Institute of Cancer Research is part of the Department of Internal Medicine I of the Medical University of Vienna and the Comprehensive Cancer Center and conducts basic and translational research in the field of oncology and is involved in teaching activities at the graduate and postgraduate level.
Research at the Institute focuses on four main research topics: Cellular and Molecular Tumorbiology; Applied & Experimental Oncology; Chemical Safety and Cancer Prevention; Tumor Progression and Metastasis.
Our mission is to perform basic and interdisciplinary biomedical research and to translate our findings into the development of improved and personalized therapeutic concepts in close interaction with clinicians following the strategy "from bench to bedside and back".
The long term commitment is to fight cancer by improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, prognosis and cure.
