Major vault protein and the vault particle: role in tumorigenesis, neuroprotection and drug resistance

Aim of the study is to clarify the cellular functions of the vault particle as well as of its major component Major Vault Protein (MVP) = Lung Resistance Protein (LRP) and factors regulating its expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional level. Moreover, the role of MVP in cell signal regulation and the malignant phenotype is addressed with a focus on brain and lung tumors.
