Forschungsschwerpunkt
Chemische Substanzen sind nicht nur als relevante Karzinogene bekannt, sondern können auch eine wichtige Rolle in der Krebsprävention spielen.
Unsere Forschung beschäftigt sich mit Mechanismen, die an einer solchen Chemoprävention beteiligt sind, wie zum Beispiel bestimmte Kaffeebestandteile.
Zu unseren Forschungszielen gehören positive Wirkungen auf den Karzinogenstoffwechsel, durch welche Karzinogene sowohl aktiviert als auch entgiftet werden können, sowie antioxidative Wirkungen, da sich herausgestellt hat, dass oxidativer Stress während mehrerer Stadien des karzinogenen Prozesses entscheidend ist, sowie die Stimulierung der DNA-Reparatur.
