“Plastic Pollution and Chemical Burdens: Do we need 16.000 Plastic Additives?”
 Thilo Hofmann, Professor and Chair of Environmental Geosciences at the University of Vienna.
 His research focuses on the environmental impacts of nanotechnology, trace contaminants, sorption to carbonaceous materials, and microplastic fate.
 He directs the University of Vienna’s Environmental and Climate Research Hub, uniting over 70 research groups across the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, law, and economics to
 address holistically today’s pressing environmental challenges.
“Effects of Micro- and Nanoplastics on Health”
 Lukas Kenner, Professor and Dep. Director of Dept. of Pathology at the MedUni Vienna, Head of Dept. of Exp. Pathology and Lab. Animal Pathology at the University of VetMed Vienna
 His research focuses on the interaction of micro- and nanoplastics with biological systems, including crossing protective barriers, accumulating in organs, and influencing cellular processes.
 He leads the microONE COMET-Module, an FFG project with over 15 partners across science and industry, is partner in the EU COST Action PRIORITY (Plastics monitoRIng detectiOn RemedIaTion recoverY), positioning him as a key voice in assessing and
 mitigating health effects of environmental plastics.
“Plastic Recycling: Fact or Fiction?”
 Jörg Fischer, Professor and Head of the Institute of Polymeric Materials and Testing & Deputy Head of the LIT Factory (Linz Institute of Technology) at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz
 His research focuses on advancing circular economy solutions through innovative polymer recycling, material performance optimization, and sustainable plastics design.
 He is a leading actor in Austria’s recycling research landscape, heading large interdisciplinary projects like the flagship project circPLAST-mr with 25 partners from science and industry to
 develop practical, scalable circular economy polymer technologies.
