About the Speaker
Dr Marc Gunter is Professor and Chair of Cancer Epidemiology & Prevention at Imperial College London’s School of Public Health, where he co-directs the Cancer Epidemiology & Prevention Research Unit with the Institute of Cancer Research. Educated at Oxford (Biochemistry) and Cambridge (PhD, Molecular Epidemiology), he trained at the U.S. National Cancer Institute and has held posts at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Imperial; he also headed the Nutrition & Metabolism Branch at IARC.
Dr Gunter investigates how nutrition, diabetes and obesity drive cancer risk and outcomes, applying molecular approaches in large cohorts and trials—most notably as joint coordinator of the 520,000-participant EPIC study. He has authored 550+ publications and advises numerous international panels on cancer causation and prevention.
