Research Focus
Chemical substances are not only known as relevant carcinogens but may also play an important role in the prevention of cancer.
Our reseach deals with mechanisms that are involved in such chemoprevention, which is e.g. achieved by certain coffee components.
Our research targets include beneficial effects on carcinogen metabolism, by which carcinogens may be both activated and detoxified, as well as antioxidant effects, since oxidative stress has been found to be crucial during several stages of the carcinogenic process, and stimulation of DNA-repair.
