Research Focus
Hepatocellular carcinoma is among the most frequent causes of cancer death worldwide. The incidence in Austria and other European countries is increasing and the prognosis is poor. Therefore, knowledge-based advances in prevention and therapy of this life-threatening disease are of utmost importance
Chemical compounds, including food components or contaminants in the food chain, are among the most important causes of human cancer. The focus of our research group is a profound mechanistic understanding of chemical hepatocarcinogenesis and the single steps of this complex process.
